    Eric Nies is best known as the teen idol from the first ever reality show, MTV’s
    "The Real World/New York". Famed as the Pioneer of Reality Television, Eric has also
    been inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.
    Born on May 23, 1971 in a small beach town in New Jersey, his mother Anna May Nies,
    has been a pre-school teacher for 35 years and his father, Jack Nies is one of the
    longest running NBA referees of all time.
    While growing up Eric thrived as an athlete, however it was the modeling industry that
    paved the way for his entrance into entertainment. Discovered by legendary
    photographer, Bruce Weber, Eric appeared in his book, Bear Pond, which assisted
    greatly in his launch on MTV, where he would eventually become reality televisions’
    biggest star.
    In 1994 Eric went on to host the worlds' largest watched dance show, “The Grind”,
    which was viewed in 90 million homes around the world. “The Grind” became so
    popular that Eric released “The Grind” work-out video series, which to date are still the
    best selling exercise videos of all time.
    For the 10 years to follow, Eric made many appearances on talk shows, Real World
    Challenges, in movies, as well as gracing many magazines with his boyish good looks
    and chiseled physique. Over the most recent years, Eric has utilized his celebrity to
    follow his greatest passions of helping to heighten awareness for Pediatric AIDS,
    cancer research, and childhood obesity.
    In January 2009, Eric re-emerged into the world of television on the new VH1 reality
    show “Confessions of a Teen Idol”, where he and 6 other cast members came together
    to speak openly about their fame, the perks, the prices paid, and where they humbly
    are today.
    Today Eric is an advocate for wellness through nutrition as a physical trainer utilizing
    his years of study in martial arts. His mission is to help others reach their fullest
    potential in all aspects of life by facilitating his clients through detox with super foods
    and healing of the body, mind and soul.
    Eric has recently co-founded Planet Nice, a foundation following dreams to reach and
    inspire people all over the world. The first projects to come to fruition will take place in
    Hawaii and Fiji. Both these journeys will be documented.
