    As of today I am a few weeks away from my fight with Cheick Kongo…
    As you may have seen in my last video I posted on youtube channel my training camp began in the California desert at David Sandoval’s Oasis retreat. I had some serious doubts about going to a “retreat” for 10 days to start my training camp! That retreat turned out to be a blessing in disguise & exactly what I needed thanks to Eric Nies, Peter, David Sandoval & John Buckmaster.  Eric Nies showed me the true power of investing in myself and really helped teach me the mind/body connection. Those ten days were tougher on me than any fight I have ever been in. A tipical day started with Eric and Peter switching off training me for 2 ½ hours Straight (no break, not even 1 min) in the AM, followed by 4 mile run through the hills, followed by shake/40 min sauna/lunch and then it all began again from the beginning…5 hours of consistently hard training and 8 miles road work a day!!! I am sure this shocks guys that know me and my normal training routine, but I did it & it taught me to really push through and finish strong!
    During the “retreat” I was introduce to amazing all natural products created by David Sandoval’s @ PHPORDER.com and products created by Dr. Lindsey Duncan at Genesis Today. I can’t say enough about these products; they boost my endurance, recovery, & energy level. I have never a dedicated supplement taker but these have changed my life and I can’t see my self ever going without them! I will be posting a video full of information about the products later this week…so watch for it!
    For this training camp, I made the decision to move my training to Denver Co.  So I am now training under the guidance of Trevor Whitman and Mike Van Arsdale. These two guys have put their focus on training smart and efficiently to reach my peak for my March 21^st UFC fight against Kongo (on Verses) Both are very talented in different ways & these guys know their stuff. It’s great to have Van Arsdale on board for this training camp. He is attached to me at the hip and theirs no room for cheating while he’s around! He loves to work me out till I am about to puke, pass out or run out the door, and its all been done many times, you can ask lil Dave Velasquez about that story!  
    Then there is Trevor Whitman, the Main man at GRUDGE MMA here in Denver. They say u can't teach an old dog new tricks but Trevor has proved that to be a huge lie! In my opinion Trevor wrote the book on Striking! Everyday, under his training, I learn so much it causes me to drop all my old thoughts, habits & everything I thought I knew about how to land- what I want- when I want! I’m like a starving kid in a candy store that can't stop eating…I learn something new everyday & I want to soak up all knowledge Trevor has! I am making improvements daily!

              

    One last thing before I end this…unfortunately, I had a very close friend pass this week. His name was. Tim was one of the few guys I could call and shoot the bull about everything but fighting…that's what I will miss the most about him…picking up the phone to call his ass & just shoot the shit. I'm glad to say I did just that and called him about two weeks ago and I hear his laughter from our conversation that day in my head today and it will remain there! With that being said, if you guys know someone that you have not reached out to say hello in a while…call them NOW…I would hate for you guys not remember the sound of a friends voice and especially the sound of their laughter?
    
    Make that call... 
     -------Life is unpredictable. What is here today could be gone tomorrow. Don't regret not telling someone how you truly feel or just to catch that laugh----
